What’s the difference between a general purpose and a high security steel door?
A general purpose doorset is built for secure everyday access — 1.2mm Magnelis leaf, insulated core and standard locking. A high security doorset adds heavier reinforcement, upgraded multi-point locking and anti-jemmy detailing for high-risk or previously attacked locations. See our high security steel doors.
Are general purpose steel doors insulated?
Yes — the leaf carries a mineral fibre core giving a U-value of 1.6 W/m²K, making these doorsets suitable where Part L thermal performance matters.
Can a general purpose door be used as a fire exit?
Yes. Any of our doorsets can be fitted with a panic bar to BS EN 1125 or a push pad to BS EN 179 for escape-route use — see our emergency exit doors.
What colours and finishes are available?
Any standard RAL or BS 4800 colour in a polyester powder coat, backed by a 7-year finish warranty in normal (C3, non-marine) environments.
